From S2E10
Now: Episode 10 "Once Upon a Time..."
It is now the next morning in Tian Chen's home where Kristi and Kenny arrive to see Boyd and all he can do is stare at the spot that Julie was last seen writhing in pain. He takes a step outside where Jade is sitting in his chair and vents how fucked this is. He doesn't even reply to him but it does spark an idea so just walks off.
Elgin, Donna and Dale take the van back to the RV to fetch the remains of Randal. I'm surprised Dale is along for the ride but I'm guessing it's his punishment for being an asshole the other night. He did come up with a tubular term. Corpse collector. Sounds like a rad death metal band.
They split into 2 groups. Dale quickly finds him but doesn't actually think he's dead. Right when they are about to carry his body, his eyes fly open in a grayish color and he starts high ass shrieking.
Simulataneously, Marielle in Colony House starts shrieking.
At Tien Chen's home, Julie also starts shrieking.
THREE
Sarah and Kenny are now walking in the woods as Boyd is telling them that Elgin's dream correlates to what she saw the night they both went out in the woods in the 1st season finale. How she saw the little boy telling her about entering the tree. He repeats the nursery rhyme but Sarah doesn't recall it, surprisingly.
He leads them both to the site that Boyd was the faraway tree sent him too. The area is currently dilapidated but before he can say any further Sarah gets plagued with the ballerina box music. She starts writhing in agony as she says she can hear the trio's screams. She starts bleeding through her nose and says "they" are laughing at Boyd for bringing "it" back to town and setting it free wanting to make everyone suffer. It apparently got excited when it touched Kenny's arm. She starts calling for Julie saying that they are dying. Sarah says the prophetic words, that when they die, it will be too late. Also that Boyd needs to make the music stop.
Boyd is just clueless but tries his best to comfort Sarah with Kenny just staring doing fuck all.
At Colony House, Tilly is conducting her own churchy thing in her prayer circle. Cool I guess. Whatever makes them feel better. Donna walks past them and tells one of the guards, Matthias to take up all the guns and lock them up in the shed for everyone's safety.
Looks like the screaming as stopped but Julie goes right back to sleep. Tabitha speaks with Jim outside and finally tells him about Victor's story of the mom and tower I don't want to repeat for the millionth time. Jim isn't too keen on what she is getting at as the last time he had a theory of his own almost got him killed. She says that she can't just sit here hoping for the best to just fall in their lap. Jim doesn't believe in hers at all. When it comes down to it, Victor's mother never came back, so why does she think it will be any different if she does it herself?
Regardless, she wants to try it anyway.
She goes up to Victor to ask if he knows where this tower is. Nah but he does know da wey to the bottle tree. Jim comes strolling in at that comment and is like wut??? Victor whips out a drawing of the bottle tree. Guess what? She wants to go right meow.
Jim just hugs her.
Reeling from what they just witnessed Kenny goes to Boyd asking where to go from here? The best course of action is going back to town because this shit it totally beyond their scope. In the meantime, there is some major damage control to be done here. They first need to work to calm the people so they can stop freaking out.
Ellis goes to check in on Reggie asking if he is alright. My man Reggie here speaks truth when his reply is "Why are people always asking that when the answer is obvious?" Fucking PREACH! Anyway, Reggie, owns up to his mistakes and apologizes for his behavior last night. His partner he described as his rock and he was just losing his marbles that the one person that kept him sane is now gone. And he walks off. He's still grieving, I get it.
Fatima walks in as he leaves and he straight up tells him YO LETS GET MARRIED NOW, BITCH!
Jade is back to the former bar and current Jade workspace. He has a chat with his inner child in the form the late bartender, Tom. I remember they actually did have a brief chat. He was that philosofy professor, right? Anyway, their conversation if Tom implores from his rational side that nothing in this place is familiar and if there's answers to be found that's where it will be. Hella cryptic.
Sarah is back at the police station asking Boyd is they have buried Paula yet and she volunteers do it and walks out of there.
As Matthias is putting away the gun Reggie comes up and slits his throat! Nooooo!!!! Not Matthias! Fuck Reggie, I was starting to feel sympathy for that fucker. He steals 1 gun makes a run for it.
Jade goes to the site where Tabitha swears she saw the deady children come from. With wire in hand to help him find his way back he tumbles through the rabbit hole, literally. The dumbass is on his own with NO BUDDY system in place. He shines his flashlight and sees the scariest looking dummy perked up on a ledge. Eh well he doesn't want to let that dummy deter him so he treks on further in the tunnel.
Boyd goes to the church and talks to "god" called him an AH. He has an intense one sided conversation to vent his frustrations is all. Donna arrives to touch base with him. Giving her the update of taking Sarah in the forest he explains why he enforced the sleeping ban and he's frustrated now more than ever. She says like wow stop being a martyr and watch your son get married.
While Kristi is keeping a vigil over Marielle comes none other than Kenny checking in on her fiance.
Jade continues down the tunnel with only his handy dandy flashlight. Cautiously making his way he emerges in an open chamber and finally sees what Tabitha has been hallucinating. The dead kids but they are now laying down on slabs of concrete while repeating "Anghkooey". Freaked the fuck out, he proceeds to look up and holy fuck it's that symbol that's been haunting his ass.
Speaking of Tabitha, Victor is now leading her to the forest for the bottle tree they were speaking of earlier. He initially has trouble finding it until he hears some clinking which was - you guessed it, the bottle tree. He stares at a certain point on the ground saying that is where he found his mother's dead body.
He leads her to the otherside of the bottle tree where it is revealed to really be the faraway tree. He explains to her that faraway trees take you to different places so you never know where it will arrive next. However, this particular one is special that according to Victor's mom that it will take her to the tower.
Before Tabitha takes her cue, Victor sweetly gives her his lunch box opening to reveal that he packed some snacks for her in case she gets hungry or anything. She gives him a big hug and here's the real kicker, he actually HUGS HER BACK! I love how this shows how much he truly cares for her.
Donna escorts Fatima to the ceremony where Ellis surprises her to their makeshift unofficial wedding. Boyd makes it in time so lets make this unofficial wedding poppin'! She warmly asks him to walk her down the aisle and usual wedding stuff where they say their vows and shit. Since there's no Father Khatri just the bride and groom saying their vows.
Something Ellis says strikes a lightbulb in his dad's head so he literally excuses himself from his own son's wedding!?!?! BROSKI WHY!
Ethan and his dad are continuing to stay in Julie's room and not leaving her sight still. Ethan makes such a weird ass comment asking if we they die will they see their dead sibling Thomas again. A bit dark for kid to say but I guess that's a natural question to ask about life and death and whatnot so Jim answers the best way he could.
Boyd goes back into the wood to retrieve a tiki torch from that storage unit (I think that's the one where they first met Elgin on his first night). The second he steps out, Reggie pops out of nowhere at a distance pointing a shot gun at him.
He said everything was just fine before he went skipping in the forest and now everything has gone to shit and shoots him. He got his shoulder so Boyd is forced to shoot him dead. Now Reggie dedz. Boyd yells in anger as he didn't want it to go down this way but the show much go on.
With the tiki torch in hand, he makes his battered self to the entrance of the site where he was once transported (or is the correct term teleported IDFK) and lights that motherfucking torch.
*LA POOF" he is in that now built dungeon thingy. He goes limping around and to his horror he sees the three of them screamers chained up. He immediately goes up to Julie to try to wake her up. In unison now they are actually screaming for realsies. It's just the visual of them being chained up because they are still in their respective beds in Town/Colony House.
He has a hallucination in the form of his late wife before him warning him and destroying the music box will not end their pain but prolong it. She drops another bumb that it is not fear what the forests is feeding on but: HOPE. It's useless to prevent their deaths today because they'll die eventually anyway. Boyd says NOPE and smashes the music box.
With that, the three screaming people are coming back to normal.
Still reeling from his gun shot wound, Boyd is now back to the disheveled site on top level. He yells to...idk the forest spirits or whatever that they won't break him. In his own words, of course. In the distance, he spots a dog that barks at him and runs back into the forest.
When Julie is recuperating drinking some water or whatever, Ethan takes it upon himself to look outside the door and notices that there is no more cicadas abuzz. That's when Julie is like "Where's mom?"
Ehhh so yeah Tabitha actually did find that tower she was searching for. When she arrives at the top and looks out the magnificent view, it gets abruptly shattered (heh). The boy in white appears behind to say he's sorry but this is the only way. Before Tabitha can respond, he pushes her out the window!!!
She wakes up but she's in a....fucking hospital bed? She immediately knows something is wrong. Terribly wrong. She keeps muttering "No" under her breath and slowly walks over to the window as a doctor tries to talk to her. She says that a pair of hikers found her unconcious body on a trail. Tabitha looks in horror out the window that it is: SUNNY! Noooo!
That concludes Season 2
Season 3 willl air sometime in 2024. Then again there was a writer's strike so could take longer.
